This chili is absolutely delicious. I have made chili many times before and through trial and error I have managed to create a mildly spicy but extremely tasty chili. Some people enjoy very spicy chili but I believe that too many spices destroy the true flavour of this wonderful dish. My family enjoyed this chili so much that I decided to make it again for a kid’s Halloween party.

I found this recipe for Very Vanilla Cupcakes on the food blog Good Life Eats. I immediately decided it was the right cupcake recipe when I saw that it had been created to work at high altitudes. This is the perfect cookie recipe for a chocoholic. I found the recipe in one of my favourite cookbooks “Sarabeth’s Bakery: From My Hand to Yours” by Sarabeth Levine. I discovered Sarabeth’s Bakery when I was living in New York City. She has 8 locations around Manhattan but I always went to the cafe in Chelsea Market. I would often walk for 1 hour from my apartment just so I could get her pumpkin waffle and a latte for breakfast. Not only do they serve delicious breakfast and lunch, but the baked goods are some of the best I have ever tasted. If you are planning on being in NYC any time soon I would highly recommend that you make a stop at Sarabeth’s Kitchen; if not purchase Sarabeth’s cookbook and bake some of her treats in your own home.

This past weekend I had my first catering job! The event was a 5 year old girl’s Halloween Party. I ended up baking 45 Very Vanilla Cupcakes, 40 Chocolate Chubbie Cookies, 8 Mini Marble Bundt cakes, 1 German Apple Cake, and enough Chili for 50 people. I am not going to lie it was a lot of work, but also really rewarding. Keep checking the blog this week to get all of the recipes I used for the party.
